A lot of them were also very persuasive. Each movie had a clear perspective, and whether purposeful or not, it showed through the interviews. Many interviewers asked questions that were leading, and thus a participant answered a certain way. I’m curious to know if we shortened our questions and broadened them a little, would we have had different responses? Nevertheless, the movies were a great way to get a message across. For example, on my EDM movie, I think I really showed people that females were under appreciated in the industry. A lot of them were also very persuasive. Because the movies were persuasive, I also learned a lot from them. Many of the problems that were presented in the movies were completely new for me. For example, I did not know that the LGBT was underrepresented in Greeklife. Watching those movies actually influenced my decision to use LGBT for my activism topic. The movies really stuck with me, and I wanted to look deeper into the subject.
I really liked making movies because it is a way to express what we’ve learned, but in a different way. Normally, we write essays/ hyperessays. The movie was really cool to do because instead of worrying what tone we would write in, the genre for the movie kind of set itself up based on what questions you were asking. I liked using another media to show my findings, especially since the class is about different types of medias.
